When Anxiety Still Feels Hard To Manage

If anxiety is persistent, exhausting, or interfering with daily life and you’re exploring additional options, start here.

Vitalitas offers physician-led evaluation for ketamine therapy in a medically supervised setting, with screening, monitoring, and clear next steps.

If anxiety is impacting your quality of life, let’s discuss options.

Why Ketamine Therapy May Help with Anxiety

A Different Clinical Pathway

Ketamine does not work like most traditional anxiety medications. It acts on the brain’s glutamate system, which plays a role in mood, learning, stress response, and neural connection.

For some people with persistent anxiety-related concerns, that different pathway may help create movement when symptoms feel rigid, repetitive, or difficult to interrupt.

Many anxiety treatments take weeks to evaluate because they build gradually in the body. Ketamine can act more quickly for some people, which may help patients and clinicians find meaningful change, sooner.

Response still varies, and ketamine is not a guaranteed fix. But the timeline can be different from standard medication trials, especially when anxiety is part of a broader mood, trauma, or stress-response pattern.

A Quicker Read On Relief

WHEN PEOPLE EXPLORE CARE FOR ANXIETY-RELATED OUTCOMES

Some people explore ketamine therapy after trying multiple medications without enough relief or after stopping medications due to side effects.

Others have done meaningful therapy work and still feel stuck in a high-alert pattern that is not improving enough with the usual approaches. Anxiety and depression often overlap, and evaluation focuses on what is most disruptive and what has been tried.

HOW WE EVALUATE CANDIDACY

Safety First

We provide ketamine therapy in a safe, supportive, and medically responsible way. Each patient is carefully evaluated to make sure treatment is appropriate.

final decision

Candidacy is a clinical decision made with you after reviewing your history, medications, and the realities of monitoring and aftercare.

Clinical fit

We consider whether ketamine therapy matches your symptoms, history, and goals, and whether standard approaches have been sufficient.

HOW CARE WORKS

Our care process is structured, individualized, and designed to be easy to follow. We start with consultation and screening, then move forward only when treatment is clinically appropriate.

  • We begin with a clinical consultation to understand your symptoms, health history, current treatment, and goals. This helps us assess whether Vitalitas may be an appropriate fit and what additional information may be needed.

  • In order to provide the best care to our patients, we need to coordinate with the primary provider managing your mental health or chronic pain symptoms. This may be a PCP, psychiatrist, or therapist.

  • Treatment visits take place in a private room with physician oversight and clinical monitoring. Our team prioritizes safety, clarity, and a calm environment throughout the visit.

  • Follow-up is part of the care process. We review your response, monitor how you are doing, and adjust the plan when appropriate.

Our goal is clear, medically responsible care that supports continuity over time, not a one-size-fits-all experience.

Monitoring During Visits

Physician OVERSIGHT

Every infusion is overseen by a physician with experience in ketamine’s clinical use. Vitalitas is staffed to provide close medical monitoring throughout treatment.

Vital Sign Monitoring

During treatment, we monitor key vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation to help keep care safe and responsive.

Comfort During Treatment

We pay close attention to how you are feeling throughout the visit, not just what appears on a monitor. Your care team is prepared to respond to your needs in real time.

AMPLE RECOVERY TIME

We build in time after treatment to make sure you are recovering appropriately before you go home. Your care team monitors how you are doing and does not rush the discharge process.

VITALITAS PATIENT EXPERIENCES

So grateful for the Vitalitas Team and the tremendous benefits of ketamine… The ketamine treatment has changed my life. It has relieved the underlying anxiety and panic in my nervous system… It’s allowing me to travel again, pursue my life goals, and spend time with family and friends more than I’ve been able to do since the injury.

— PAM

This is changing my life. My brain conditions, trauma, and stomach/GI issues from my severe anxiety are hugely helped… I’m more functional and I’m actually able to experience happiness, when before I didn’t even think feeling ‘okay’ was possible… I have hope for life now, and that’s everything.

— Emily T.

Meds could only take me so far with helping my depression and severe anxiety. The treatments worked immediately. Like, life changing… The office is very calming… I believe one needs to feel safe and cared for to do these treatments and I never need worry with them.

ANXIETY-RELATED FAQs

  • No referral is required to contact Vitalitas or schedule a consult. Some patients come to us through a therapist, psychiatrist, primary care provider, or pain specialist, but others reach out directly.

If you already have a provider involved in your care, we do require an Acknowledgement of Ongoing Care form to be filled out by the provider managing your mental health.

This may be a primary care doctor, psychiatrist, or therapist. It is important for every patient to have a provider managing their care outside of our clinic.

  • Candidacy is based on a careful review of your symptoms, medical history, mental health history, current medications, prior treatment response, and safety considerations.

For anxiety-related concerns, we also look at what else may be present. Anxiety often overlaps with depression, trauma patterns, sleep disruption, chronic stress, or pain. Ketamine is not recommended automatically. It is considered when the broader picture suggests it may be appropriate.

  • Sometimes anxiety is the main concern, but often it is part of a larger pattern involving depression, trauma, chronic stress, or nervous system overactivation.

Ketamine may be considered when anxiety is persistent, highly disruptive, or difficult to shift with standard approaches.

  • That is common, and it is something we take seriously. Patients are not expected to come in feeling perfectly calm or certain.

Before treatment begins, the team explains what to expect and how you will be monitored. During the visit, your comfort, vital signs, and response are observed. The goal is to make the experience feel clear, supported, and medically supervised.

  • Ketamine can feel unfamiliar, and some patients experience changes in perception, time, emotion, or body awareness during treatment. For people with anxiety, that possibility can understandably bring up concern.

This is one reason setting matters. At Vitalitas, treatment happens in a monitored clinical environment, with attentive staff and physician oversight built into the care model. The experience is temporary, and patients are supported throughout the visit.

  • Visit length can vary depending on the type of treatment and your individual plan, but the typical visit length is 90 minutes to 2 hours.

You will need a responsible adult to drive you home afterward. Patients should not drive, work, make major decisions, or resume normal responsibilities immediately after ketamine treatment.

For shorter infusions you can take a rideshare, but for longer appointments a friend or family member will need to get you to and from the appointment and help you settle in at home.

  • No. Ketamine does not replace therapy, psychiatric care, medication management, or long-term support when those are part of a patient’s care plan.

For many people, ketamine is considered one part of a broader treatment picture. When appropriate, it may create a window where other supports feel more accessible or where entrenched patterns feel less fixed.
